A person’s name could say what they are,

People’s names can make a big difference in their lives. The Israelites in the Old Testament knew the importance of giving the child a good name and took the matter seriously.
A person’s name could say what they are, what their character is and may relate their purpose to God.

In some cultures, names are taken from events which took place while the mother was pregnant or when she gave birth.

I spoke to a man named Joshua who changed his given name 'Silence' to Joshua.
This is what he said "My mother told me that I did not cry when she gave birth to me which was abnormal, however, I am a very talkative person now which is contrary to the meaning of my old name. I realised that the name I had was contrary to my character.
A man that I look up to named me Joshua and I accepted the name. I started reading the book of Joshua and I learned that Joshua was not just an ordinary man of God but he made a difference. I learned from his example and I told myself I have to make a difference everywhere I went. I am living by the example of my name and I do not regret, that I changed my name,”

In Biblical times, the changing of one's name was significant and used to symbolise the bond of a covenant. Sarah’s name was originally Sarai. According to Genesis 17:15, God changed her name to Sarah as part of a covenant after Hagar bore Abraham his first son, Ishmael. The Hebrew name Sarah indicates a woman of high rank and is sometimes translated as "princess".

Abram's name was also changed to Abraham. According to Genesis 17:4, God changed his name as part of a covenant. God said, “No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham for I have made you father of many nations.”
Jacob's name was changed to Israel. According to Genesis 35:9, “After Jacob returned from Paddan Aram, God appeared to him again. God said to him, ‘Your name is Jacob, but you will no longer be called Jacob, your name will be Israel.’”

I think I have beautiful name and my mother chose well :-) . My name means pearl and yeas I am a precious pearl. That's the only name I have on my green book.
